Dharmaveer Diliprao Rahate Shikshan va Bahu uddeshiya Sanstha’s Smt. Sindhutai Jadhao Arts and Science college formerly known as “Arts & Science Mahila Mahavidyalaya”, Mehkar was established in the year 1997.

The founder president of the college, honorable Pratapraoji Jadhao, M.P. of Buldana District dreamt of rural girl students’ higher education. Rural girls were unable to pursue higher education due to so many hurdles. Hence taking this view into consideration, honorable President founded Mahila College in Arts faculty and science faculty for both girls and boys.

The college is permanently affiliated to Sant Gandge Baba Amravati University. The college was recognized under section 2(F) and 12(B), by UGC. The aim of college is to provide education to women & their overall development. The college provides education to the wards of poor families. Most of the students are from nearby villages.

The college provides hostel facility, book bank scheme, students guidance cell, remedial coaching for poor & needy students. The college wishes to make students ‘Ideal’ in every sense of the term & provide ‘society ‘Ideal Woman and man’. The college wishes to make students ‘Swayam siddha’ by promoting knowledge & skill that will enable them to earn their living.

The premises of the institute sprawling over nearly 8.2 acres of land, is a witness of the mare of great visionary. A sapling plated by honorable Pratapraoji Jadhav, has now grown into a huge tree having strong branches.

All teacher’s strive for the improvement of university result. Overall development of weaker & average students for making education pleasant to them.

The college conducts extra classes for minority &academically weak students. Presently the college is accredited with c+ grade by NAAC & now it is prepared to send Lot to NAAC, Bangalore.

Co-curricular activities like organisation of cultural programmes debate, elocution, seminars, yoga & pranayam, Ganesh Festival, Dahi-handi , sports day, birth & death anniversaries of national leaders are conducted from time to time.

Every year our college also participates in Youth Festival organised by Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University. At interval, the college also organises programmes on personality development & Arts of Living. Ours is an exclusive college in Buldhana District, which is second number, where higher education for woman is imparted.

Many students brought laurel to college in various sports & academics. Students of the college activity participate in the university sports like kho-kho, kabaddi, volley-ball.

Various social activities like Tree plantation, Literacy Rally, Voters Awareness Rally, Women’s Empowerment, Save Girl Child Campaign etc are conducted through N.S.S unit of the college. Besides, annual residential camp is conducted in the adopted village.

There are about 6000 reference book in the college library. The library is well equipped with the facilities like N. List, book bank, E-mail and internet. The computerisation of the library is in progress. The faculty of the college is well qualified.

Most of the teachers in Arts and Science faculty are Ph.D. holders and SET/NET qualified, remaining are pursuing their Ph.D. Five faculties are University recognised Ph.D. supervisors. The science faculty of the college is well equipped with enriched labs materials, chemicals, apparatus, glass wares, &adequate furniture.

Parent Teacher Association is also established in our college. Dr. S.T. Kute is the co-ordinator of the association. In the development of the college parents participation should be there. Keeping this view in mind, Parents Teacher Association is established in our college. In the overall development of students, parents’ role is very important. Parents suggest some reformative ideas so that the college may develop academically. Through this association various academic problems of the students are to be solved.

The college is surrounded by greenery and pleasant atmosphere. For distance learners, a centre for Preparatory course for BA at UG level through distance education by Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University, Nasik is available in the college campus.

Brief History of College

In 1997 the Faculty of Arts for Girls was established.

In 2000-2001 Received 100% Grant in aid for Faculty of Arts.

The subject ELT (English Literature) introduced from 2003.

From the Year 2005-2006 got Permanent affiliation of Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University.

The Faculty of Science for Girls stared from 2011.

In 2013 Co-Education is introduced in Faculty of Science.

In 2016-17 College renamed as ‘’Smt. Sindhutai Jadhao Arts & Science College’’
